The Homecoming is finally finished!

My thesis film, The Homecoming, is complete!

My team and I had the pleasure of screening our final product to a warm theater full of friends, family, and fellow students at Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. We got a warm reception and are excited to now share the film with the world.

We have begun the process of sending our film out to film festivals, and as soon as I know which festivals they will go to, I will make sure to keep you all updated here on this blog.

Some Yes's and some No's

Living the creative life is full of ups and downs.

Here are my latest yes's:

The biggest yes would probably be that I just signed across the board with Shawn Brogan at The Brogan Agency. Many thanks to my manager Chris Lee for setting up the meeting. I am really excited to work with her team when we all come back from break in the New Year!

I auditioned and got accepted into The Groundlings school for improv. I am excited to begin the next phase of my training.

I had a couple of no's:

I auditioned for my first lead role, and as I haven't heard from them by now (two weeks later), I'm going to assume I'm not moving to the next round. The cool thing about this particular audition is that I had to do a self tape, and taping myself has shown me so many things that I want to work on to become better.

I did my first Casting Director workshop today. This one counts as a half yes half no. While they said that my acting was good for what I brought in, the scene I selected was not particularly my type, so it was very difficult to give them exactly what they were looking for. What makes this a good "no," means I am that one step closer to nailing down my type which anybody in the biz knows is key to figuring out how to make your money.

I feel like, as long as the no's balance out the yes's, I'm still in good shape.

I love this life and I'm looking forward to 2016!

The Joanne Baron Industry Master Class

This past weekend marks the end of the third Master Class I've done so far with master Meisner teacher, Joanne Baron. If there's something I learn every time I do one, it's that you're never "done" learning your art.

This year's master class taught me so many things about acting, but more so, I learned the importance of belonging to a creative tribe. How their enthusiasm rubs off on you, their encouragement when you feel your work is not successful, and their pride and inspiration to keep you humble when it is successful are all things that are necessary for anyone in a creative industry to keep their sanity through the rollercoaster ups and downs.

I'm so excited to continue moving forward with the acting part of my career. It has been such a fulfilling journey so far. Thanks to all of those who have supported me along the way!

Wish me luck on my next project: I am three weeks out from principal photography of my thesis film: The Homecoming. Click on the link to check out our website!

New film in the works!

Hey all!

We all love beginning new projects and my latest project is my thesis film at Chapman University. The past two years of my study at Chapman has been leading up to this moment.

My new film is called "The Homecoming" and it is a very personal story about a family going through the struggles of a family member being in prison.

We just launched a website for the film and I hope that you all will check it for information and updates on how the film is going. www.theHCmovie.com

Thank you all for your continued support!

Cry Uncle Screening

Well everyone, my heart is full.

We screened Cry Uncle yesterday at school and I was so surprised and delighted to have it received so well. As artists, we are constantly critiquing or being critiqued on our work, that you get to a point where you wonder: Does any of this work?

And then you get that one or two or even three people if you're lucky, the ones who haven't seen the process, who are watching it fresh, and they walk up to you and say: "I was really moved by your piece."

Well folks, that's what we're here for.

I'm so proud of my team for staying hungry and present; for fixing every little nit-picky thing that I thought wasn't working and changing it back again without holding it against me. They stuck through the tough and stressful times with grace and totally had my back the whole way through.

A director could not have asked for a better team. My heart is full.
